The varaity is astounding but it is so refined that it shows how each track is a part of her.

The 10 tracks average about 2:40 to about 3 minutes in length. To some this might seem as too short as attention spans tend to be shorter, but the lengths are perfect.

The song lengths remind me of the shorter punk songs of the 1970s with a modern pop feel and emotion. The length also make each song have to be more direct and raw. Songs line "one eye open" benefit from the 3 minute length as it deals with putting yourself first and having the strength to do so.

Where songs line "half alive" accel with the 2:13 time, by speaking more forward about the internal struggles and emotions, that can come from anxiety in one's life.

Then as we wander down to songs like "water me down" the 3:06 length is perfect for the speaking about how it feels to lose yourself for someone else who wants to be controlling. They believe your personality to be too much. It is that feeling of losing who you are when you want to be with someone else.

Having been introduced to Charlotte Sands by a friend, Satellite is a great sophomore album that very much avoids that "sophomore slump" that artists sometimes hit. She has refined her sound even more and she doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Rating: 9.5/10 Stars
Just an average dude making average reviews…..

Thanks for reading Armando! It is the violence to be alive in a state where you were dead, or were going to be dead.

With songs with such strong lyricism, such a strong sound that feels chaotic in nature and raw emotion in each moment, it is no wonder why fans keep coming back.

Solid 9/10
Just an average dude making average reviews.

Thanks for reading! I don’t necessarily listen to much hip hop or R&B but i have been following George’s career since his YouTube days. Now we get his newest album, Piss In The Wind. That is one hell of a title.

This album suffers from the same thing of his previous albums, some songs feeling underdeveloped or feel like they act as interludes. It does one of 2 things. It either makes you want to listen to the next song since the previous song is lacking or you maybe think that this is intentional to make you wanting more. A sort of push and pull which is one of the central themes in this album. The songs on the low end hover around a minute and fifty seconds and almost 3 minutes on the high end. It seems with the rise of TikTok and reels, the attention spans, make shorter music for reels and quick content the new norm.

His new album have a lot going with the trap beats flowing with his lyricism surrounding love and heartbreak. The feelings of love can be so unbearably heavy when pushing and pulling happens. The track “LOVE YOU LESS” shares this feeling so deeply. How do you love someone someone who isn’t able to hold all the love you hold. A love so abundant, that it makes you, a lover boy or lover girl, feel less than. You wonder if you did love them less, would they be able to love you enough.
Holding onto love that you know won’t be fully reciprocated, it damages the heart in the extremes. Should you pull back, so they can be present?

”Past Won’t Leave My Bed” is another track that harbingers on the fact of memories. Memories of the past and wanting to move forward, yet that person is ingrained in your mind and yet your brain does not want to move on. The thing is, you won’t forget them, you can only let their memory hurt you less. They became a part of your life, whether they introduced you to new music or a new location to eat or even just a new perspective on a movie, song , comic or book. They live in you when you read a book they loved, listen to a song you both rocked out to, cry to a movie you both knew. The past doesn’t leave, ever.

Overall, the album is his most cohesive work yet. However, the track that are longer, do feel fully fleshed out and there are some shorter works that do feel bit fleshed out. So to know if the shorter tracks were intentional to make it a taste of what is to come, is a great idea, but perhaps with better execution. But that is just my opinion.

Score: 7.5/10
Just an average dude just making reviews…

Follow on Instagram: Averagedudemusicreviews

Share

Subscribe now

Thanks for reading! The haunting sound makes the lyrics feel like a knife being stabbed into the heart. It is a call out all the negative characteristics the person had in their being yet didn’t actively show them. They were the manipulator in a series of multiple issues and didn’t seem to acknowledge their wrongdoing. Grace sees how he “rationed his heart” to give her only what he thinks she wanted.

It can be seen how there is deep recollection and reflection on the past, especially with the song “Take It Back” as if claiming that she no longer wants anything to do with him. She wants everything that reminds her of him to be absolutely gone, even when she sometimes wants him in moments that remind her of him. The yearning and power of self, is wholeheartedly shown by this point in the album.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" own way with the sound that shows she is different. Moving on is a very poignant with the fact that she calls back to all the groups she was introduced to and now that they broke up, the groups prefer her. Bloodless has been on repeat since its release. I had 1st heard, “Is There Something in the Movies?” and “Winnebago” on a whim and since then, I was intruiged. Below is the review for Bloodless.

—————————————————————————————————————
Has it ever gone down easy? What are we? Has finding yourself or how others see you ever easy?

With Bloodless, Samia embarks to show us that it isn’t easy. Though there is a silver lining that you are at least trying your best. The concept of Bloodless and the lead single, “Bovine Excision” came from the findings of cow mutilation and the bloodless remains of the bovines, Samia used this mystery as a vehicle to question the idea of lack or absence. These ideas are inherent to being human, but Samia presents her perspective and view, as a human and as a female.

Samia is a wordsmith, a poet, a human and she bears all her identities to show how it feels to have something that has more weight because there is a lack of it. Identities change over time, but they leave us or become a foundation. Though through Samia’s perspective, that identity we no longer have, the lack of it, impacts us more than the current identity we do have.

The album’s inception began back in 2023. This would have been around the time Honey had been released. The singles released up to the lead up to Bloodless being released, such as “Bovine Excision,” “Hole In A Frame,” “Lizard,” “Pants” & “Carousel,” have all evolved to have a deeper meaning but additional visions of how they add meaning to my own life.

Such as “Bovine Excision.” I understand what Samia meant that it was about the pursuit of emptiness and self extraction. The cattle mutilation exemplifies this. The way that we as humans, especially if you're a people pleaser, cut parts of their identity away to fit in with people or to fit a specific mold. At some point we no longer resemble the person we once were and we sometimes want to return to form but we are unable to. We removed the things that make us unique and really became a toxic and twisted version of people-pleasing. Mutilation of our identity.

“Hole In A Frame” has a similar sentiment but it feels like a portrait of ourselves that is lacking substance. We aren’t in it, that our vision of ourselves is dead, but it is still being propagated by the visions of how our parents, friends, strangers or lovers see us. As Samia says “While you hold the onus,” the idea of who we are, in the heads of all those people, that accountability is now on them. They created proxies of you in their own head. Perhaps the hole in the frame is made by two people, the observer/creator and the subject.

Identity and authenticity are perhaps a subtle theme that is part of the album, such as on the song “Sacred.” Where the first words heard are, “I walked outside naked/ Got in the pool and passed out/ You saw something sacred/ but you never loved me like you hate me now.” It seems that in this instance, once she showed her true self or her sacred self, she was no longer loved. She was loved only when she hid who she truly was. When the lack of authenticity was prominent, hate was not even conceived.

The absence of the identity or person you once were is most prominent in the final track, “Pants.” There is a weightlessness that this song has. She uses the idea pants, as a way to justify asking who she was when purchasing them. In a way, when you begin to search for something gone, there is dissonance there. Because now that thing you were searching for, it is absent, it has been or it never existed in the first place. In a way it becomes a never ending pit, searching and trying to find every version of yourself. Trying to wear who you once were. The problem is, that our identity is an ever changing thing. It’s an amalgam of different parts that create the whole, but over time the parts are switched out, much like pants. Over time, we change the pants we wear to adapt. Sometimes we forget how long we have had certain identities and how long we have stayed in it.

Absence is a very powerful thing. We all have our own mysteries in our lives. Some uncover their mysteries, because it creates an absence and we begin to ask questions. Samia gets very existential, but it is in a way that also feels grounded. That we find space for the absence or lack, or we better understand it and we can fill that space, but sometimes we can’t fix it. Overtime, whatever we look for or once had, leaves and leaves its mark. In its absence, we find something new and equally powerful, but it too creates new voids and mysteries. In a way, we are a mix of the possible and impossible, the found and lost.

Score: 10/10

Just an average dude just making reviews…

Thanks for reading!
